Send to Markdown
A bookmark that converts the page you are looking at. It exists for pages this app cannot fetch by address - a Copilot page, Teams, an internal wiki - because their content only exists inside your signed-in browser session.
Step 1 · Show your bookmarks bar
The strip of bookmarks under the address bar. If you cannot see one, press Ctrl + Shift + B in Edge, Chrome or Firefox to turn it on. Press the same keys again later if you would rather it stayed hidden.
Step 2 · Put the bookmark on it
Either way works - pick whichever you find easier.
Drag it
Press and hold the button below, drag it up onto your bookmarks bar, and let go. Clicking it here does nothing: it only works from the bar, on another page.
Or add it by hand
Edge has no menu item for adding a bookmark to a URL you type, so the way in is to save any page as a favourite and then change its address.
- Copy the code below.
- With this page open, press Ctrl + D. Set the folder to Favourites bar and choose Done. A bookmark for this page appears on the bar.
- Right-click that new bookmark and choose Edit. Right-clicking a folder instead gives you Rename and Open all, which is the wrong menu.
- Change the name to Send to Markdown, replace the whole URL with the copied code, and save.
Chrome and Firefox are the same idea: bookmark the page, then edit the bookmark's URL.
Step 3 · Use it
- Leave this app running - the bookmark opens
https://tools.puresourcecode.com/, so it needs to be up. - Open your Copilot page in the browser, signed in as usual.
- Wait for the answer to finish appearing.
- Click Send to Markdown on your bookmarks bar.
- This app opens in a new tab with the Markdown already converted.
If nothing opens, the browser blocked the pop-up: allow pop-ups for the Copilot page and click the bookmark again.
How it works
The bookmarklet runs inside the page you are on, so it reads the article exactly as your browser rendered it - signed in and all. It posts that to this app and opens the result. If the browser refuses to let a public site reach a local address, it falls back to putting the page on your clipboard and asking you to paste. Either way nothing is sent anywhere else: the conversion happens in your own browser.
It is tied to https://tools.puresourcecode.com/. If you later run the app on a different address,
come back to this page from there and add the bookmark again.
